PUPPY TRAINING

Article by Andrew Jefferson

Many Dog Owners Came to My Veterinary Clinic/Shop and asked, what isthe most basic Training need of my Puppy Pet? They Key is” Socialization and”Familiarization “.

DISCUSSION:

All dogs thrive on companionship that is why dogs all called “packanimals”. Everyone in the family wants to be involved in the dog trainingprocess. Proper planning such as specific (routine, methods, responsibilities, and rules), should be discussed among your family members before the dogor puppy arrives home.

In this way, everyone will understand his or her own role and responsibilityin raising the puppy or dog with the principle of ” Consistency and Patience”

All family members should participate in the puppy training. Rules andresponsibilities should be set up and agreed upon e.g. (when to play, whatto feed, who to clean up and others).• That everybody should be committed and consistent in the daily trainingprogram and no exceptions should be given when you have friends orvisitors in your house.

FAMILIAZATION PROCESS

House training activities may take a month or less in order to ensure theroutine.• Potty training-designating the toilet, eating and sleeping areas areimportant in the training process of a puppy.• This should remain consistent especially during the first months so thatyour puppy can “Familiarize ” himself to the environment and developgood habits quickly , a “clear” schedule of walking your puppy outside,

playing, feeding and training time should also be clearly established.• “Food and water” should be supervised as too much of either one, wouldresult in your puppy’s inability to “hold” and you would fine unpleasantminor “accidents” at home. Leash and Collar” are good idea to use on yourpuppy during periods when nobody is at home so as to “prevent” anyaccidents that might result from your puppy’s curious exploration aroundthe home.• Supervised your puppy training and allow for early “Socialization” withhumans and other species, “Do not confine your puppy frequently inconfined areas , as it can easily develop into behavioral issues such as(barking, aggression , separation , anxiety ,exercise fear and generalunruliness)• The other concerns of the first month basic puppy training are the bondingand time spend together with your puppy. (Hugs, touch, stroke and talk toyour puppy often). This will help to establish you, as the Alpha Leader anddevelop trust with your puppy during the puppy training process.

Analysis:

Your puppy’s training methods should always be as much as possible bekept enjoyable and in a short span of time . In the end, the most essentialingredients for any successful basic puppy training values are still ( Patience,Consistency, Understanding, Attention and Love).
