SHAMUS IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AT THE NO-KILL AUSTIN HUMANE SOCIETY (www.austinhumanesociety.org)! Shamus was adopted and returned because the new owners left him outside 22-23 hours a day and he kept climbing over their chain link fence and coming to the front door. Shamus obviously wants to be an indoor dog! They said he was excellent with their 2 year old child and other dogs, walked great on the leash, and didn’t have accidents in the house when they brought him in. They started him on crate training, too. They said he was the perfect dog except for the fence climbing, which is easily fixable by letting him be an indoor dog. Description: Neutered male, Basset Hound/Lab mix, approximately 2 years old, 63lbs. (not tall but solid), entered the shelter on 2/16/10 as a stray Personality: Friendly (will love everyone for a treat!) but saves a little something special for HIS person, VERY happy with an always wagging tail, very cuddly (will turn himself upside down in your lap to snuggle), gentle (never jumps on people), quite trainable, easy-going go with the flow kind of guy Other Dogs: Has been great with other dogs Energy Level: Low energy. He’s a pretty laid-back guy. Happy to go for some walks but very content to just lay around and relax. Cats: Seemed ok with them. Housetrained: Good so far. Car: Gets in the van without a problem. Walks: Walks very well on a loose leash. A pleasure to take for a stroll. Children: Great with small children. Comments: Shamus is adorable …
